The fabrics benefit from the Aquaclean protection treatment facilitating the removal of difficult stains just with water. The treatment covers every fibre with an invisible molecular layer that prevents dirt from penetrating the fabric. Perfect for family homes, those with pets, or just very messy people!

Come and see the range for yourself in the Showroom’s pattern book. Well worth a look for the most demanding and sophisticated of tastes. Aquaclean has become a benchmark in the world of interior design and decoration nationally and internationally.

All About Audrey – horror story (with a moral!) coming up…

Learn from our experiences! Our company founder, Audrey Johns herself, reveals a story from the early days of the business:

“In the 1980s while fitting blinds at a very grand country house on the northwest coast of Pembrokeshire, a very dramatic storm blew in - the sky changed to slate grey, and threatening wind whistled all around.

We had five silk swagged Georgian style blinds to install at the top of very high arched windows facing the nearby Irish Sea. Underneath the windows, a beautiful lawn swept down to a cliff top, boundaried by tall ancient elm trees, below which stood the graveyard of the estate’s heavy horses.

My fitter at that time was an ex ‘wren’ of indomitable spirit. She and I were side by side at the top of long ladders wielding our electric screwdrivers. The wind was rattling the ancient glass and we descended our ladders with grave concern as the power went off, unable to continue.

We watched a massive blast of wind tear about five elm trees from the ground and blow them across the lawn towards the house, just like straws. Fortunately they came to rest safely some distance from our windows. It was clear that other shrubs and trees had also been re-arranged and, worse still, we knew the owner and staff were out for the afternoon, so we sat on the floor and ate our sandwiches and worked out what to do now.

Our first instinct was to pack up and go home, leaving a polite note, but during this time the worried owner returned to examine his gardens. The front driveway was also covered in fallen trees, so men were summoned from the village to bring a generator and chain saws to clear them. Two hours later we could finally start the long journey home, but happily and safely returned a couple of weeks later to complete the stunning job once the trees were gone and the power restored.

Moral of the story: always stow a flask and sandwich on board!”

Audrey Johns is now a fine art painter, spending her time creating beautiful pieces that are exhibited at The Waterfront Gallery in Milford Haven and our Brunel Quay Showroom. Check out more of her work here.
