Did you know? The History of Pembroke Dock Talk – Fri 3rd Nov (7.30pm)

Audrey Johns Showroom is proud to support Dr Simon Hancock’s talk on “The History of Pembroke Dock” next week. At St Clement’s Church Hall, Neyland. Refreshments will be served. In aid of HOPE MS Therapy Centre in Honeyborough. Please do come along for a fascinating talk about our local history. £5 per person, pay on the door.

Our nearby town of Pembroke Dock is just on the opposite bank of the River Cleddau from our Showroom over the Cleddau Bridge.

  • The historical natural harbour and town have historical links dating back as far as 790 AD when it was in use by the Vikings.
  • As a small fishing village, it was previously called Paterchurch – Pater means village.
  • Pembroke Dock town expanded rapidly following the construction of the Royal Navy Dockyard in 1814.
  • It is now the third-largest town in Pembrokeshire being more populous than neighbouring Pembroke.

The town has had a fascinating and chequered history… but we recommend that you come along to hear more about this from Dr Simon Hancock during his talk.
